Kansas and Oklahoma men swindled investors and laundered proceeds, prosecutors say

Seven men in Kansas and Oklahoma have been indicted for allegedly bilking investors in companies that leased oil drilling rigs out of $132 million and laundering the proceeds. Those charged are: Michael McNaul, 58; Dale Lucas, 62, Russell Kilgariff, 63; Lloyd Nunns, 68; Greggory Krause, 62; Steven Tallman, 58; and Fredie Hembree, 57. Between 2004 and 2008, the conspirators distributed bogus brochures, profit and loss statements and other documents promising high returns on investments, court documents state. Investors were reportedly told they would receive a 25 percent to 40 percent annual return. However, the defendants diverted investor money and used to it buy or build oil rigs and fund other companies under their control, the indictment states. Several companies allegedly were used in the scheme, including Consolidated Management Group LLC, a management company, and Tri-State Production, which purchased, refurbished and leased oil and natural gas drilling rigs.
