A former supervisory special agent in the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Los Angeles office on Tuesday pleaded guilty to violating the Bank Secrecy Act by making nearly $500,000 in structured deposits into a personal account at Bank of America. Travis Raymond Wilson, 38, of Huntington Beach, California, often gambled at casinos while employed by the FBI between January 2008 and February 2013, his plea agreement states. It adds that while he often left casinos with more than $10,000 in cash, he regularly made deposits of less than $10,000 into his bank account to prevent the bank from filing Currency Transaction Reports. "Wilson structured his cash deposits to attempt to prevent CTRs from being filed because he did want not the FBI to become aware of his gambling activities," prosecutors said in a statement announcing Wilson's plea, echoing a statement included in his plea agreement.
