The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is expanding its complaints database to allow consumers to search for complaints on a state-by-state basis. Consumers will now be able to search the state that the complaint was filed. They will also be able to see complaints about money transfers and credit reporting. CFPB Director Richard Cordray said the changes will give consumers more insight about complaints in their states. "This data puts valuable information in the hands of consumers to help them understand what is happening in their states," Cordray said. "And by adding credit reporting and money transfer complaints to the Consumer Complaint Database, we are making these important markets more transparent and accountable to all consumers." The move comes after the CFPB expanded the complaints database in March. That allowed consumers to research complaints database from 19, 000 credit card complaints to 90, 000 complaints about mortgages, credit cards, and consumer loans.
